What is it?

Effective Altruism is about streamlining doing good. The EA community identifies problems, and tackles them based on three criteria:


A second goal of Effective Altruism is to minimize existential dangers to humanity, whether they are the ghosts of generations past or tomorrow's nightmares. From AI to nuclear weapons, prevention of catastrophe might make all the difference.

How can I help?

Altruism is something that all of us practice in our everyday lives. What effective altruism means is to apply a selfless cost-benefit analysis to the process. We all have limited time, money, and energy, and by considering the causes where these can be best invested will create the most good for the world.
